Prolix Music believe music can lift everyone in their moment of need, which is why we are proud to support Musicians On Call.
For over 20 years Musicians On Call (MOC) has brought live and recorded music to the bedsides of patients in healthcare facilities. MOC Volunteer Musicians have performed for more than 800,000 patients, families and caregivers at facilities across the country. Musicians On Call is the nation’s leading organization delivering the healing power of music, serving individuals in facilities ranging from children’s hospitals to adult facilities, VA hospitals and hospices.
MOC believes that all patients, families and caregivers should have access to and benefit from the healing power of live music. It has been demonstrated that music has a direct effect on people and can manage stress, alleviate pain and improve pain tolerance, blood pressure, outlook and overall mood.
MOC Co-founders Michael Solomon and Vivek J. Tiwary were inspired to start its flagship Bedside Performance Program after organizing a concert at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan to honor lost loved ones. The concert’s effect on the atmosphere of the place was so uplifting, and so instantaneous, that Solomon and Tiwary decided they needed to bring such experiences to more people, particularly those who are too ill to leave their rooms.
